Paying Debts

Paying Debts
[The story is about a woman who was dirt-poor but made it in life doing philanthropic and not so charitable deeds after doing very well in life].

It was early in the morning and the restaurant had just opened for the day. Mathee, as she was popularly known in by her clients, barely had had most of the days meals prepared when her first customer walked. It was 5:45 in the morning, and that was early even for her clientele. She had always worked hard and diligently and was an early riser, two attributes she considered the most essential in her life. After all, they had seen her employ 3 workers in less than 3 months after starting the business and opening up another outlet in less than a year. 4 years later, she had six serving a town of about 60,000 people. Not bad for a having to start over with less than 65,000 in savings and three kids to raise.

The customer ordered breakfast and after eating it, asked Mathee if she had a minute to spare. She really didn’t, but she believed in being courteous to her customers and decided to make her leave as she gracefully as she could in two minutes. Five minutes later, she was glad she had spared a thought for this customer, and was in no hurry to leave. The customer was the owner of a small but rapidly growing local food franchise who wanted to partner with her due to the prime locations of her six cafes and her clientele.
